Grays, Gophers, Larks and Spiders Hot Out of the Gate

7/11/08-- As the defending champion Kansas City Monarchs languish in third place, the season 5 champ (and season 6 runner-up) Washington Homestead Grays have surged to a league-leading 27-11 record. Immediately behind the Grays in the NL are their division-mates, the Burlington Black Barons, at 24-14. Burlington GM brickyard9 was disappointed in his team's position. "If we have the beginnings of serious interest we need to throw our hats in the ring for consideration very soon," he said, possibly about something else.

Over in the junior circuit, the Monarchs (23-15) trailed both the Cheyenne Black Spiders and the Oakland Larks (both 25-13) in the ever-competitive AL West. Oakland GM cjlancaster still evinced fear of the third-place Monarchs, however: "[g]otta be sched[ule1, GM of the Monarchs]," he said, and while his comment left room for interpretation, brickyard9 agreed. "[S]ched would be my choice?", brickyard said/asked. Dsmba's Minnesota Golden Gophers share the AL's best record with Oakland and Cheyenne.

When asked for his thoughts on the league standings, sinfonian11 of the Philadelphia Hillsdale Dailies declined to comment. "I don't think I'm up to the task," said sin.
